About testing: This add-on has been released under development since the begining of May. It was first released as "Gunman Searchbar", but the name was changed, because the add-on grew to include search functions that could not be characterized as a "Searchbar". Due to this incrementally building over a long period, I feel confident that there are no serious bugs. The add-on has gone through some beta releases during the last month. No bugs has been reported. I have myself tested it on three Windows machines.

About usefulness: One aspect of the add-on has already been proven to be popular: More than a year ago I developed a greasemonkey userscript called "LookItUp2". It has been downloaded 18555 times, and has 70 fans. (Its available here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9620). The "LookItUp" feature is included in Searchbastard, but it works even better as an add-on, because the sidebar can be a "real" sidebar, instead of an iframe on the page. The "LookItUp" feature is a fast way to look up a word on a page, by selecting the word and typing an engine alias.

The "searchbar" aspect of the add-on was conceived when I worked as a translator. In this profession, you constantly need to look up words, and you want to look up the same word in several dictionaries, and you want to get the result fast. The icons allows you to repeat a search in another engine with just one click, and the multisearch allows you to make several searches in one click.

The Searchbastard engines have the power to strip the search results, removing ads and other useless stuff. This is especially useful when a search is targeted to the sidebar, or part of a multisearch. Searchbastard engines also allows extra searchoptions. Ie: In "Google Translate", you can choose source and target languages, and for example create a configuration called "English - French" (with source defaulting to english, and target defaulting to french), and another configuration called "French - English". This way one engine can meet many needs.

The add-on has a wiki. The wiki has a quick introduction, a guided tour, changelog, FAQ, etc. The url is: http://searchbastard.rosell.dk/wiki/
