The Advanced tab of General Settings has four sub-tabs:

Enable addressbar search

Enables/Disables the Addressbar search feature. This setting can also be altered by right-clicking the searchbastard icon in the status bar (in the bottom of the window)

Break out target

Options:

  • Current page
  • New tab (default)

When a searchbastard engine is part of a multisearch, a "break out"-icon is displayed in the searchbastard engine header. It looks like this: Image:Breakout-icon.gif.
Clicking this icon opens the engine in either the current page or in a new tab, depending on this option.

Btw: You can right-click the icon in order to break out in a target different from the default.

Header visibility (in frame)

"Header" refers to the Searchbastard engine header. The options are:

  • Hide
  • Display
  • Display when mouse is over
  • Display when mouse is over and clicked (default)

"Display when mouse is over and clicked" means that you have to click where you would expect the searchbastard engine header to be, in order to see it. The header takes space, which there isn't much of when the engine is inside a frame (part of a multisearch-frames search), which is why you per default have to click to see it.

Header visibility (in sidebar)

Same options as previous setting, but this setting applies when the searchbastard engine is displayed in sidebar.

Header visibility (in page)

Same options as previous setting, but this setting applies when the searchbastard engine is displayed on a whole page.

Automatically assign new engines to

Options:

  • No, don't assign
  • Toolbox
  • Searchbar

When you install an engine, it will automatically be assigned to either toolbox or searchbar, unless you have chosen the first option. This applies to both ordinary search engines and searchbastard engines.
